These poems were designed to help children learn the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.  I tried to visualize what the letter would look like to children and then created a cute little rhyme that contained the letter name within the poem to cue the correct response.  Establishing the visual cue first, I then emphasized the auditory cue to elicit the correct letter name.  For example:   Upper case A looks like a house and the girl that lives in the house is Amy. Red symbolizes the visual representation and blue signifies the auditory cues for each letter.  When you ask the child the name of the letter, if the child can't recall the name remind the child of the auditory cue so that the child can retrieve the name of the letter from the cue.

Dino ate half a chocolate cake

That his mom worked hard to bake.

"Why did you eat cake, Dino without asking me?"

"Because the cake smelled so delicious, mummy!"

To see the stars shining bright.

Gina takes her doll Jean for a ride

In a carriage by the sunny seaside.

Gina's snake lives by a round bush

Happy has allergies all the time.

He sneezes "ah (say h-choo) choo" during the daytime.

Happy lies in his bunk to blow his "ah (say h-choo) choo" nose

Then he goes and changes his booger clothes.

Almost reaching to the sky.
